Is it not cooling at all, or not cooling enough? Does it not cool at idle but cools when driving? The former is likely a system problem, the latter is commonly poor heat dissipation (electric fan not running, dirty condenser). Step 2: Low-cost troubleshooting (photo shows common engine bay layout). 1. A clogged cabin air filter will cause low airflow, making it "feel not cold." You can replace it yourself for $15. 2. If the condenser surface is covered in willow catkins and insect carcasses, rinse it with low-pressure water. The effect is immediate. 3. Listen for the "click" of the compressor clutch engaging. If it doesn't engage, it might just be a fuse, relay, or pressure switch, which costs tens of dollars. Step 3: Use equipment. Gauge readings determine the direction. Low pressure on both sides means low refrigerant (there must be a leak, check for leaks instead of just adding refrigerant). High pressure being too high indicates poor heat dissipation. Abnormal fluctuations in readings point to the expansion valve or internal compressor issues. Key pitfalls to avoid: "$99 refrigerant top-up package" is useless without checking for leaks. Yellowstone & Grand Teton 7-Day Road Trip Itinerary from Denver
